Plan a course or a family vacation in a BIG house in Europe

Your native country is most likely lovely, but if you have a little adventure in the blood, it's nice to spread your wings and see something new  - every once in a while.

A trip to another country is not just a physical journey, it is also largely an inner journey. Not only will you experience new places, smells and people, you will also experience yourself in a new way, because everything is new and you will meet new challenges.

For example, you can't expect to manage in English in all places, you will have to deal with the daily chores in a foreign language or perhaps resort to "charade your way" if you do not master the language. . . which can be quite entertaining.

I have hand-picked big houses around Europe that are suitable for a family holiday across generations or as a venue for you, who are knitting your own course, which can become even more attractive if the surroundings are new and exciting.

The price level, indicated in the yellow square below each country, is valid for 1 week. You can search by:

SPREAD YOUR WINGS
and find your destination in Europe

ARRANGE A COURSE IN EUROPA

What would it be like to do a French course in France? A workshop in Tuscany? Or an astrology course on a Greek island? The possibilities are endless and it is up to you to get the ideas, as you browse through the options.

Keep your course topic and clientele in mind as you browse the houses in France, Greece, Italy, Croatia, Spain, Czech Republic and Germany.

Pay attention to whether the beds in a double room are single beds or double beds. A shared double room is okay for most students, but a shared double bed is not okay for everyone. In other words: customize your choice of house and sleeping accommodations with the student group you have in mind. (And make sure you get a bedroom for yourself. It's YOU who run the show, so you need to be able to retire to privacy).

As a help to your planning for and pricing of your course or workshop, you can see the cost per person for the cheapest house and the most expensive house at each destination.

Of course, you have to do the calculation for your special house yourself, that is - when you find it.

PLAN A FAMILY VACATION IN EUROPE

Wouldn't it be cool to gather the family in a big, beautiful house for a family party, a round birthday, a wedding party or just three generations on holiday together in new surroundings?

Have your special event or holiday in mind as you look through the houses. Is there a playground or gameroom for the children? Is there a private pool or walking distance to the beach? How many bedrooms are there? How far is it to the nearest village or town? Are there interesting places to visit for the whole family .... etc.

High season in France is July and August as well as Christmas, New Year and Easter, where you can expect long queues at most major attractions.

April, June and September offer lower prices, flowers and lots of fresh vegetables. In September, the wine harvest is a good reason to visit France.

The off-season, from October to March brings lower prices everywhere, but many attractions and eateries located in the countryside may be closed or open only a few days a week.

What makes France stand out from the crowd? Art, fashion, gourmet food, wine, perfume and sensuality!

Now that I think about it, it's all the good things in life that speak to our senses. No wonder we are some with a passion for France!

Croatia is very affordable; half a liter of draft beer costs approx. 2 EUR  and a dinner for two at a middle class restaurant approx. 26 EUR. How much would it cost where you live?

And it is not just the price level that has made people open their eyes to Poland as a holiday destination. Poland offers both historic cities such as Krakow and Warzaw with plenty of culture, an east coast with the opportunity for a beach holiday, water sports and fishing and finally the ski resort Zakopane, at the foot of the Tatra Mountains in southern Poland.

BIG EVENT HOUSES | HOLIDAY HOMES IN SPAIN

A visit to Spain can be beach life, life in the countryside or holidays close to Barcelona with all the cultural and wildly exciting offers that the big city has to offer.

One thing worth remembering is that Spain is much, much more than sun, sand and cheap booze!

Here you can still be stopped in traffic by a flock of goats crossing the road with their shepherd, or you can meet wild boar up in the mountains.
And if you rent a property out in the countryside or in the mountains, don't be surprised if a plastic bag filled with lemons or avocados all of a sudden is hanging on the garden gate; it is just a friendly gesture from a neighbor or farmer who has picked more than necessary.

Spain is perfect for both course and family vacation! I know, I've been living here since 2001!

Set up a course in Denmark | Host your course in a big holiday home in Denmark

15/2/2016

Picture
It is time to get started, if you want to have a course up and running next year or the year after. The earlier you are out, the greater range you have to choose from - among the best and most popular big holiday homes in Denmark.

Many of the big houses in Denmark gives you the ability to offer both weekend and week-long courses with room for 20 people and up to 40 people with accommodation in a double room. Many with pool and sauna and all the houses have satellite / cable TV, washing machine, dishwasher, whirlpool, internet and fireplace or stove.

There are many benefits attached to do a course in a big rented house. It is much more personal and private. Your trainees will not only learn; they also get a holiday together with new people somewhere in Denmark and you can usually make sure, they are placed in a beautiful location.

Plan your course

Naturally your priorities depend on what kind of training you offer, how many trainees you expect to get, and where you choose to place your course. In addition to the content of your course, and a description of the same, the following points are, however, something that all course providers of weekend and week-long courses must pay attention to:
  1. Choice of course venue
  2. Research activities and facilities in the area
  3. Planning catering
  4. Budget and course price

Choice of course venue

If you are thinking of arranging an intensive course in African drum dance,  you might as an example be looking for a course venue with a large hall, which is located far enough away from the nearest neighbor to avoid any complaints or conflicts about noise.

If you are planning a slimming course, you probably need a house with as many opportunities for exercise, outside and inside, as possible, and also a kitchen with space for teaching and training to cook diet food.

You must, in other words clarify exactly what you need for your particular course. Once you have done that, you are ready to go on a house hunt for the perfect course venue.

Picture
Picture

Research activities & facilities in the area

Maybe you need to build in some excursions, a restaurant visit or some activities out of the house. Search the Internet, once you have chosen your big holiday home and know your area. Copy related link while you form a picture of what the area has to offer. It is also something that will come in handy when you write your final course description to potential participants.

Planning catering

If you are organizing a course with accommodation, you also have to consider various options for catering.

If it is suitable for your course to divide the participants into cooking teams, then it is not only cheaper than other solutions, it is also a good way for the participants to get to know one another.

Of course you can also check whether there is a possibility of catering services offered with the house or in the local area.

Notes down the price of respectively cooking yourself (catering 1) and catering service (catering 2).

Budget and course price

When you make your budget, start by deciding how much you want to earn on your  course and for putting your project together. Let's say you want to earn a minimum of 2,000 EUR for your planning and execution of a course. Let's also assume that you book a house for 30 people, but only get 20 participants.

House for 30 people with 15 bedrooms: 2,600 EUR
Linens + towels:                                               300 EUR
Deposit                                                               700 EUR
Gas, water & electricity according to
consumption?

If you book a house for 30 people, but only get 20 participants, it means that you can have a bedroom for yourself (you will need it) and that you can offer some double rooms as single room at an additional cost.
Gas, water and electricity according to consumption is an unknown quantity, until the course is over, but when you pay 5,000 in deposit, which you get back - if nothing is damaged, it should level itself out.

Your salary:        2,000 EUR
House in total:   3,600 EUR
Catering 1:          2,000 EUR
Catering 2:         4,000 EUR

Course Price with catering 1: 7,600 EUR  /  per student: 400 EUR
Course Price with catering 2: 9,600 EUR /  per student:  500 EUR

Whether you choose catering 1 or 2, you can now choose to round the course fee for each participant up to the amount that you're comfortable with. You do however need to have a look at prices at similar courses - hence the competition.

If you raise the course price with catering 1 to 495 EUR and course price with catering 2 to 600 EUR, then your total outcome will be:

495 x 20 =   9,900 - 7,600 =   2,300 EUR
600 x 20 = 12,000 - 9,600 =  2,400 EUR

And should you get another 5 sign-ups, you could make (4,775 EUR) or ( 5,400 EUR).

Not bad for a little planning and a week of intensive work!

Big Holiday Homes on the Danish Wadden Sea Islands | Fanø and Rømø

13/2/2016

Is there anything better than a holiday home by the sea and the beach, when the weather is good?

A vacation on Fanoe or Rømø means you are surrounded by the Wadden Sea, which in 2014 became a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as the world's largest contiguous tidal system with a diverse flora and fauna.

Sea, beach, dunes and idyllic holiday villages with thatched roof cottages, from the time when great grandmother was young, is all part of the islands, each of which has much to offer for lovers of nature, watersports, hiking and not to forget - cycling enthusiasts.

This is the perfect place for a truly relaxing holiday with family in large holiday homes with room for several generations. Most big houses have an indoor pool, so a single overcasted day or two is not a problem.

Why not check out both islands before you decide, where the summer holidays are going to be spend this year?

Welcome to Fanø

Fanø, which is only 56 km2, is located just 1.5km from the mainland.

It only takes about 12 minutes to take the Fanø ferry (FanøFærgen) from Esbjerg to Nordby on Fanø, whether you are on foot, on bicycle or by car. There are approximately 99km from Flensburg in Germany to Esbjerg in Denmark.

The nearest airport is Billund.

Nordby is the largest town in Fanø and definitely worth checking out, but I have highlighted three holiday resorts on Fanø, all offering large, delicious holiday homes.

Billund Airport
FanøFærgen - Ferry service to Fanoe

Sønderho in Fanoe | The Most Beautiful Village in Denmark

Sønderho, located on the southern tip of Fanø, was voted The Most Beautiful Village in Denmark in 2011, and the old fishing village are unquestioned idyllic and romantic. In clear weather you can see Mandø and Ribe from the village, which has only about 400 residents.

The village has many beautiful houses from its prosperity period, from the mid 1700s until the year 1900th, of which 70 are protected.

The museum, Hannes Hus (The House of Hanne), which is a modest, but not poor, Sønderho home from the sailing ship heyday in the late 1800s, gives a good impression of how people traditionally lived in Sønderho at that time.

Quite a few artisans have settled in the small streets of the village with their workshops, gallewries and shops.

There are many seals in the Wadden Sea around Fanø. It only takes half an hour to walk out to the large sand reef with seals southwest of Sønderho, where you can experience them in their natural surroundings.

Rindby is located on the Post Road between Nordby and Sønderho. The development consists of houses, farms and major holiday areas. Rindby Beach is very shallow and child-friendly.

The area offers quaint eateries and incredibly varied natural areas.

It is also here the International Kite Festival takes place, every year in the middle of June. In 2016 it's happening from June the 11th  to June the 25st. The flying area stretches from Rindby Strand to the north of Fanø Bad, and the flight time is 5:00 to 22:00.

Fanø Bad

Fanoe Bad is a popular resort area in Fanoe with countless older, beautiful cottages.

The main attractions are the 18 km beautiful white sand beach and Denmarks oldest 18-hole golf course from 1902. By Fanoe Bad, there are real good possibilities for surfing and collecting amber.

The resort Fanoe Bad is placed on Fanoe's west coast, just a few kilometers from the port city of Nordby, so it's no big deal to experience the old skipper town, and especially its Late Night events 5 Wednesdays from July the 6th through to (and including) August the 3rd

Vacation in Rømø

Picture

Welcome to Rømø

Rømø is situated about 10 km out in the North Sea, and you get there via the Rømø dam, a 9.2 km long causeway connecting Rømø with the mainland by Skærbæk in Southern Jutland.

Ferries depart between Havneby on Rømø and the island of Sylt in Germany every two hours, from early morning to late afternoon, all year round.

The nearest airport is Billund.

Toftum

The resort area Toftum is located in the Northern part of Rømø and a bit further north is a bird sanctuary.

Toftum is surrounded by moors and hills, and the area lends itself extremely well for cycling, as you from Toftum can follow a bike path that leads around the entire island.

Toftum is located on Rømø's Wadden Sea Side on the east coast, which is not suitable for swimming, but there are not more than 5 km to a beautiful beach. The most visited beach is Lakolk Strand, which each year hosts several events, including a great kite festival.

Lakolk Beach | Rømø

Lakolk beach is divided into different zones for various beach activities such as windsurfing and kite buggy.

The North Sea beach stretches all the way from the southern part of the island and up to the top of Rømø.

The last stretch of the west coast is designated as a bird sanctuary.

Kongsmark

Kongsmark is located on the middel of Rømø's east coast, just 4 km south of the dam.

Drive to Lakolk beach on the west coast for swimming, and remember that you can drive all the way down to the edge of the water, but keep an eye on the tide, as the water level on Rømø beaches changing faster than you can imagine.

Vesterhede

The resort area Vesterhede is very idyllic located in the heathland in the middle of the island. As Vråby Plantation is located near Vesterhede, it is not impossible to see hares, deer and pheasants early in the morning.

Here is total peace and quiet in the middle of the beautiful nature, but it is not far to Sønderstrand and more of Rømø's activities and sights. A cottage holiday in Vesterhede provides a good opportunity to combine relaxation with exciting activities.

Go to the west coast for a swim in the sea, it is only a few kilometers away.

Sønderby

Sønderby is an area with summer cottages, just southwest of Havneby, where you are close to the beach and at the same time can make use of Havneby's shops, restaurants, golf course and cultural offerings.
